Blues Cruise of New Zealand 2017 - 18 to 29 November

Day 1 - Saturday 18 November 2017 - Departure at 6.30pm
Afternoon: Board Radiance of the Seas. After settling into your cabin, be on deck to take in Sydney’s iconic sights, as we commence our evening cruise out of Sydney Harbour. Enjoy your first night on board, meeting other Blues Cruise members and dining in the fabulous two-storey main dining room, Cascades.
Day 2 - Sunday 19 November 2017 - Cruising Tasman Sea
Morning: Explore and enjoy the wonderful facilities and many activities available on Radiance of the Seas. Afternoon: Our 1st exclusive onboard concert, featuring Jules Boult and band. Evening: Enjoy Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party, where you will be formally introduced to Linz Denovan (tour manager), Jules Boult, Terry “Harmonica” Bean, Iseula Hingano, and The House Band.
Day 3 - Monday 20 November 2017 - Cruising Tasman Sea
Another day at sea. Spend some of your day exploring the ship, participating in its many activities, & browsing in the designer boutiques on board. Morning: Blues Workshop # 1. Afternoon: Enjoy our 2nd exclusive onboard concert, featuring Terry “Harmonica” Bean and band. Evening: Prior to dinner, attend our 1st Pre-Dinner Drinks event, with entertainment provided by our Blues Cruise entertainers.
Day 4 - Tuesday 21 November 2017 - Cruising Tasman Sea
Another day at sea. Morning: We cruise into Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, & Dusky Sound. These ‘Sounds’, in Fjordland National Park, in the remote south-west of NZ’s South Island, provide some of the most spectacular scenery in the world, with gigantic mountains rising steeply from the water’s edge. Afternoon: Enjoy our 3rd exclusive onboard concert, featuring Iseula Hingano and band. Evening: Enjoy our 2nd Pre-Dinner Drinks event, with entertainment provided by our Blues Cruise entertainers. After dinner, enjoy high-quality Radiance of the Seas entertainment, including Broadway-style shows, comedy shows, etc.
Day 5 - Wednesday 22 November 2017 - Dunedin
This morning we arrive in Dunedin. Originally founded by Scottish settlers, Dunedin was NZ’s largest city from the 1860s to 1900, and features many beautifully preserved historic buildings. Enjoy a sightseeing coach tour of Dunedin and surrounding area, with local guide, including the spectacular Otago Peninsula. Visit historic Jacobean style Olveston House, containing a treasure trove of art and antiques. Afternoon: Free time. Late Afternoon: Enjoy an onshore performance by outstanding local blues band, The Whirling Eddys, before returning to our ship.
Day 6 - Wednesday 23 November 2017 - Akaroa
Morning: Arrive in Akaroa, one of New Zealand’s first European settlements, originally founded by the French. These days the town retains a decidedly French character and is recognised as an exceptionally well preserved example of an early colonial village. Enjoy a sightseeing coach tour of Akaroa and surrounding area, with local guide. Visit Akaroa Museum. Afternoon: Free time. Evening: Enjoy our 3rd Pre-Dinner Drinks event, with entertainment provided by our Blues Cruise entertainers.
Day 7 - Thursday 24 November 2017 - Cruising
Great prizes for the winning teams! Afternoon: Enjoy our 4th onboard concert, featuring Jules Boult and band. Evening: Attend our 4th Pre-Dinner Drinks event, with entertainment provided by our Blues Cruise entertainers.
Day 8 - Friday 25 November 2017 - Auckland
Today we visit Auckland, NZ’s largest city. Based around two large harbours, Auckland is known as the ‘City of Sails’. Morning: Sightseeing coach tour of Auckland, with local guide. Visit the outstanding Auckland War Memorial Museum. Enjoy a colourful Maori Cultural Performance at the museum. Then drive to the top of Mount Eden, where we get a panoramic view of the city. Also, visit the trendy shopping ‘strip’ in the suburb of Parnell, where you will have some free time. Afternoon: Enjoy a special performance by the Auckland Blues Club, before returning to our ship.
Day 9 - Saturday 26 November 2017 - Bay Of Islands
Today we visit the Bay of Islands. The ‘bay’ includes more than 140 subtropical islands. The town of Paihia is on the southern shore of the bay; the historic town of Russell is on the northern shore. Morning: Tour Paihia and Waitangi Treaty Grounds (site of signing of first accord between British Crown & Maori people), where we visit the Treaty House and Maori Meeting House, and see impressive Maori war canoe. Also take a short drive through the NZ countryside, to the town of Kawakawa. Afternoon: Travel by ferry, across the bay, to Russell (1st permanent European settlement in NZ), before returning to our ship.
Day 10 - Sunday 27 November 2017 - Cruising Tasman Sea
Morning: Music Industry Forum. A question & answer session. Your chance to ask our blues musicians about the music industry & their careers. Afternoon: Enjoy our 5th onboard concert, featuring Terry “Harmonica” Bean & band. Evening: Enjoy our 5th Pre-Dinner Drinks session, with entertainment provided by some of our cruise/tour members. Your chance to perform for the rest of the tour group!
Day 11 - Monday 28 November 2017 - Cruising Tasman Sea
Morning: Blues Workshop # 2. Afternoon: Enjoy our 6th onboard concert, featuring Iseula Hingano & band. Evening: Enjoy our final Pre-Dinner Drinks session…an ‘all-in affair’, with entertainment provided by all our Blues Cruise entertainers.
Day 12 - Tuesday 29 November 2017 - Sydney
Morning: Arrive back in Sydney.
